Peter Hood is the lead of the firm’s property coverage practice group. He primarily concentrates his practice on the analysis and defense of complex coverage matters under first-party property policies. In addition to his practice in first-party coverage defense and litigation, Peter devotes a significant amount of his practice to the investigation and prosecution of property subrogation claims.
Peter has spent over 30 years in the property insurance field where he served as a general adjuster, executive general adjuster, claim manager and claim vice president overseeing all types of losses under first party property, builder’s risk and equipment breakdown policies. During his tenure at Kemper Insurance Companies, as an executive general adjuster he traveled extensively throughout the North American and Europe overseeing Kemper’s largest property claims. He was most recently a vice president of property claims at SwissRe.
Peter is a highly-regarded industry presenter on first-party property matters and has presented at numerous industry conferences including ones sponsored by the Property Loss Research Bureau, American and Chicago Bar Associations, Inland Marine Underwriters Association and The Boiler and Machinery Insurance Association of Chicago.
