Terry L. Welch is an associate with Nielsen, Zehe, & Antas, P.C. practicing in the firm's property coverage practice group. His areas of practice include the analysis and defense of complex coverage matters under first-party property policies, as well as property subrogation litigation and transportation law. He has extensive litigation experience throughout the United States, and has been involved in all phases of litigation of such claims.

Prior to joining Nielsen, Zehe & Antas, Mr. Welch practiced with another Chicago law firm where he focused on first-party property insurance coverage analysis and litigation, as well as large property loss subrogation claims. Mr. Welch's practice included extensive experience interpreting commercial property, builders' risk and boiler and machinery policies, as well as litigation involving issues such as vacancy provisions, protective services endorsements, groundwater exclusions, and defects in material and workmanship. Within the last several years alone, he has successfully litigated property coverage and subrogation matters in both federal and state courts throughout the country, including Illinois, South Carolina, New Jersey, Nevada, and Georgia.

Mr. Welch also previously practiced at an admiralty and transportation boutique firm where his experience included both defense and subrogation of claims governed by the Jones Act, Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, Warsaw Convention, Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, Carmack Amendment and the Harter Act. This included extensive litigation related to the enforcement of limitations of liability and personal injury defense in the transportation and warehouse industries.

Mr. Welch has also participated in the arbitration of millions of dollars worth of claims arising out of complex commercial and personal injury litigation, including actions before the American Arbitration Association and Arbitration Forums. Mr. Welch has successfully mediated matters before both private and judicial mediators, in both voluntary and court ordered contexts.
